The kids and I were off all last week and since we are all heading back to school and work this week, I know tomorrow morning will be a little more chaotic than usual. Yikes! I’m sure we will all be ready for early bedtimes except we’ll be watching the National Championship game! Sorry, teachers! Time off is awesome but getting back into the routine can be so tough!
To kick off the new year, I’m joining The Blended Blog with a little January Q & A.
1 | resolutions or no resolutions?
For the past few years, I’ve declared my One Little Word for the year versus resolutions. It’s always fun for me to look back and see how my word wove its way throughout my year. You can check out my 2018 Word of the Year here!
2 | love snow or no snow?
There’s something magical about snow! Granted, we live in Texas and only get a glimpse of it from time to time so we don’t have to deal with it on a daily basis during the winter.
A few weeks before Christmas we were surprised with the most beautiful snowfall! It wasn’t forecasted so there was no build up and let down with just a few flakes – we had real snow!
Mike and I were at his work Christmas party and all I could think about was getting home so that we could see the kids reaction to the snow!
All fun and games till he smacked me with a snowball!
3 | name a new place you want to go this year
On our recent road trip to Charlotte, NC, we spent a couple of hours in Asheville and absolutely fell in love! And by we I especially mean Colby and when your 16-year-old wants to vacation somewhere, you try to make it happen because you realize how soon he will be off at college and not wanting to vacation with his family! It’s true – there’s just something special about those Smoky Mountains! We hope to stay at the gorgeous Omni Grove Park Inn!
4 | would you rather have a new haircut or hair color?
After donating my hair a couple of years ago, I’m desperately trying to let it grow long again. And, with all these sparkles starting to show, I would definitely say I would rather have a new hair color!
5 | name one special thing you want to do for yourself this year
Without a doubt, the hardest thing about going back to work full-time has been the lack of time – to do anything – especially for myself. I love to blog but when something has to go, it’s usually at the top of the list. I’m hoping that this year, I can be intentional with any extra time that I have and carve out that time to dedicate to Coordinator of Chaos!
6 | least favorite thing about January
I wish there was an easier way to ease into January! Seems like once the kids go back to school then BAM all the activities start and the calendar quickly starts to fill.
7 | most favorite thing about January
Easy – new beginnings filled with endless possibilities!
8 | when do you take down your holiday decorations?
Currently in the process of getting everything back into the attic!
9 | do you diet in January?
Definitely not but… I want to be more intentional about taking care of myself!
10 | what area of your home do you want to organize the most?
Definitely the office (aka craft room!)! Before our remodel this room was so bad that I put butcher paper over the doors so no one could see inside. Slowly but surely, I’ll get it organized but it’s going to be a huge undertaking! Think LOTS of memories that need to be filed away so that I can make into memory books for the kids!
11 | favorite winter comfort food
tomato basil soup and grilled cheese – yum!
12 | favorite guilty pleasure
I still watch General Hospital! Wha?! Yes, I DVR it and catch up when I can. Even if I go weeks without watching, it’s always easy to catch back up with what’s happening in Port Charles!
